If you do not know which instrument you are assigned to play (violin 1 or 2, or viola 1 or 2), then click on the Midwest Personnel below.

Tuesday, December 17

  • 6:00 AM Parents Drop off students at the airport
  • 7:30 am Departure time; Fly up to Chicago
  • 9:00 am arrive in Chicago
  • 11:00 Go To the Field Museum of Science and Natural History
  • 3:30 Check into the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, 233 South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Chicago
  • 5:30 Eat Dinner at Giordano’s Pizza
  • 7:00 Return to Hotel to get instruments and music
  • 7:20 Arrive at Unpacking area; discuss rehearsal plan; unpack and tune
  • 7:30 – 9:45 Evening Rehearsal in room 470AB
  • 10:00 Return to Hotel
  • 10:30 Lock-In (Get some sleep)

Wednesday, December 18

  • 7:30 Dress in Concert Clothes
  • 8:30 Breakfast
  • 9:30 Arrive at McCormick Place
  • 10:30 am Performance at McCormick Place Conference Center Room W183
  • 12:00 Lunch and Change
  • 2:00 Visit Exhibits (flexible; possibly visit William Harris Lee)
  • 5:30 Dinner
  • 7:30 See Phantom of the Opera
  • 11:00 Check into rooms for the evening

Thursday, December 19

  • 7:30 Breakfast
  • 8:30 See a performance by Clark County Chamber Orchestra from Las Vegas NV
  • 10:00 Take a group picture at Millennium Park
  • 11:00 Lunch at Navy Pier
  • 12:00 Go to the Smart Art Musem
  • 3:00 Load bus and head back to McCormick Place
  • 3:30 Change into concert attire.
  • 4:30 Clinic by Dr. Robert Gillespie, Ohio State University
  • 5:30 Change out of concert attire, and get on the bus.
  • 6:00 Head to the Airport (Midway)
  • 7:30 Dinner at the airport
  • 9:50 PM Fly Home on Southwest Flight 2480
  • 12:55 AM Arrive in Charleston—Parents pick up students at the airport

Participant Badges (Students who have guests coming to hear them)
Performing groups are entitled to receive up to three complimentary participant badges for each ensemble member.  Groups may purchase additional participant badges above your allotment at $25.00 each.  Performers and chaperones must wear participant badges at all times at the conference (except during your performance).  Participant badges serve as an all access pass and will allow admittance into all concerts, clinics, and the exhibit hall.
