Strings 4 Syllabus

Strings 4 is the technique course taken in conjunction with String Orchestra, and it is designed to continue technical study on the orchestral stringed instruments. Students learn three-octave major and minor scales in keys from two sharps to two flats. They will study exercises and etudes to develop better shifting and vibrato skills, and become proficient in higher positions on the fingerboard. Students will also continue their development of advancing techniques in bowing, articulation, and phrasing. Music terms, symbols, and music theory will also be studied, and chamber music performance will be required. At a part of this class, students are required to audition for Region Orchestra and participate in the Lowcountry Region if/when they qualify.
